-
Rated to a withstand heat temperature of approx. 900°C of intermittent heat and 800°C (1472°F) of continuous heat.
-
Long term performance of this lacquer on bare aluminium, stainless steel and non-ferrous metal surfaces cannot be guaranteed.
Surface preparation
-
Make sure that area to be lacquered is cool.
-
Thoroughly clean the area to be lacquered ensuring that the surface area is dry and free from all traces of rust, grease, dirt, dust, polish, silicone etc. It is important that this is done otherwise the paint will not adhere properly. (Where and engine/parts degreaser has been use, the area to be painted should be thoroughly cleaned and dried to ensure all traces of residue have been removed).
-
We do recommend steam cleaning if possible.
-
Key (rough up) the area to be lacquered using a medium grade abrasive paper or pad. This is particularly important if the surfaces are very smooth.
-
Wipe clean area to be painted with our E-TECH Technik Surface Deep Cleaner (Part No: ER00102).
-
Mask off the surrounding area not to be painted using paper and masking tape.
-
Carry out a compatibility test. Spray on a small inconspicuous area similar to that being painted to check you are happy with the colour and performance of the XHT lacquer.
Painting instructions
-
For best results ensure the can and the part you are lacquering is at room temperature before use (approx. 17°C to 21°C).
-
For best results spray in a warm dry and dust free area.
-
Shake the can vigorously for a minimum of 2 minutes.
-
Hold can 25-30cm from the surface and spray using a smooth side to side motion
VERY IMPORTANT
-
Apply several thin coats allowing at least 5-10 minutes between each coat. (Do NOT apply thick coats as this will prevent the paint from curing and may lead to the paint cracking or crazing).
-
Each layer of paint should be touch dry before applying next coat.
-
Shake can between coats.
-
After the final coat has been applied, allow to dry for one hour at room temperature. (DO NOT apply any further coats once dry as this will cause the lacquer to contract and expand at different rates during the curing process causing crazing)
-
After use turn the can upside down, spray for several seconds to clear the nozzle
Curing
-
Heat the lacquered part for 30-60 minutes at 160°C (320°F) in order to harden and cure the lacquer. (Some smoke may develop during this hardening process). We recommend heating the part by either starting the engine if the part is still attached or by using an external heat source. Please monitor the heat temperature ranges carefully.
